Entertainment. The entertainment of tbe Dallas Literary Society on Wednesday even- ing last was an entire success tt far exceeded ,the predictions of theost sanguine. The ad- dresses were applicable and well delivered, The laMeaux were excellent and well selected, sentiment of the community when we say, they could nt be excelled by any amateur perform anceinthe State. vLiie tLe bociety did not aim to ingraft anything like a theatrical spirit -to the exercwes, yet it verged cios enoagn w that to give it zest to those who enjoy perform- ances of that nature, and at the same time not rouse a prejudice ic the minds of those who Are opposed to that class of exercises. The cene from the tragedy of "Ion" was well played, though it did not seem to coincide with the tastes of the greater portion f the audi- of the Evening," the Wee. . The " Comedy Surprise," and pieces of that nature seemed to accord with the tastes of the compan v, and elicited evidence of appreciation from all pre sent. Tb music, both vocal'and instrumental, was certain! excellent; the songs were well sang, and at the close of one of the best, we, in common with the "bells," felt like still keeninir no the "rinerinr for 8airah. for 8airah," until we could again bring her to the front Taken as a whole, we think it was an occasion which will long be remembered by the citizens of Dallas.
