Although the governor is reticent, i'-oiii other sources of information gathered concerning the matter i f learned that the lessees have nooic a demand for the convicts, l'h s demand was answered promptly that when the convicts were ciotuted they will be re turned if supplied with eullicient guards ami proper quarters. Pioju-r quaitets will be built at once. This will take about two weeks. The guards will not be taken from the existing militia companies of the state, but the men will be enlisted for the pur pose. Trav ellers followed the tracks of the Indians some distance, and they say the baud is on the warpath. Lieutenant Irwin and a com pan v of soldiers from Fort Bowi? will pursue the redekins. Settlers are arming themselves, a l hey fear a raid from the Indians, whose stronghold in theChiri uha moun tains ia practically impenetrable. The hostiles, at last rejoi te, were moving south.
