Is tne bridge move ment dead, or will it yet be built this summer? The voters of Al bany have spoken in no uncertain tones in favor of hui!d:ng this much needed thoroughfare across the Willamette. The citizens of the county favor it, and if there is any reason why it should be de layed the people would like to know it. (In reply to the foregoing it can j be said that the bridge question is j not dead, in fact thoee who think so will find it a very lively cornse. The status of the question is ust this: The city lavors building a high biidgj, and has the means to pay tor her portion of it. The county commissioners want to d:ctate to the city just where the bridge shall be built and what kind of a structure it shall te, and voted for a draw-bridge, because they contended that it would be cheaper. The city council would not consent to building a draw bridge that would be a continual source of heavy expense to keep in repair and to ojierate, and have advertised for bills for a high steel bridge, according to the action of the joint committee, nd these bids will be opened Saturday next. The city council ay that a number of bids from responsible bridge linns will bo received, and they are confident that the figures olfered for building the high steel bridge will be so reasonable and so much lower than was estimated that the county commissioners will c niie to their senses and help build it.
