It has increased from 1 4 to 22 schools in one year. Daly is a well known athlete and trainer of tbe Trinity students. The commence ment ball was going on, and Daly had been put on guard, as many valuable articles had been stolen in the past few weeks, lie beard a noise, and, going out, 'found a gang of toughs there, lie claims they attacked him, and he shot in self-defense. McCarthy ran 200 feet and fell dead. Daly gave him self up. Indians Left Oat. Re ports are received here by Illinois Central oflicials of a terrible wind and rain storm which prevailed last night along that company's lines from Storm lake to Lemar's, a distance of 50 miles. Several towns are considerably damaged. Four persons were drowned at Cherokee and four at Correction- ville. The railroad depot at Cal umet was blown down and much damage to town property is re ported. Sutherland, O'Brien county, a small station on the Northwestern road, five miles from Calumet, is leported wiped out. Over forty buildings have been blown down. Tbe w ires are all down and it is impossible to obtain accurate in formation except through reports transmitted to railroad officials, and tnese are not always reliable.
