The Easi-liound pulled into the station on time and side tiacked. A few minutes after the West-bound ran in. The switch to the main track closed, and the train ran head on mti the Kast- botind, telescoping the trains and wrecking botu engines. the informant says that the passenger cars were all smashed up in indescribable mass, the work of rescue has commenced, md when he left twenty dead bodies had been taken out, and it is thought more are in the wreck. Friday's trains were abandoned. Passengers from all points on this side are delayed, as there was no train run out irom Huntington that day. no information. Poktlano, Sept. 27. Careful in quiry at the Union Pacific oilices oere to-day Ia:led to elicit a ly in formation in addition to the above. The East-hound train was No. 2, and left here at 7 o'clock Thurs day morning. Owing to the fact that Shoshone is in the Idaho division the details of the terrible disaster have not been sent to the Portland superin tendent or manager, but were le- ported to the superintendent at Poc.atello. The company officials here had been notilied that the West-bound train due tie re at 6:40 this morn ing was abandoned east of Hunt ington, but they knew nothing of the wreck till show n nr Asso ciated i'i ess dispatch. As the passenger lists on the AVest-bound trains are not taken till Hunting ton is reached, there is no way at present to learn just who was on the train coming this way, and as no record is kept of passengers leaving here it was impossible to learn to-day who left here on the lOast bound train Thursday morn ing. I ut it is known mat me number of passengers was large and that the engine pulled out o' the Lnion depot with several full mans, dining car and sleepers, in uldition to day coacheu. i There is no doubt here among the company officials but that a horrible wreck has occurred, and in all probability it is very much worse than is reported in the alove dispatch.
