The mills have already commenced run A line of street cars has been put in operation during this season and next summer many more lines of track will le laid, and an lectric motor system of street railway will be established. The Oregon Pacific Railroad Company is pushing their road to an Est rn extension, and Albany is the acknowldcfl railn ad function of Oregon. These are all in operation except the Albany & Asto -ria road, oti which work is in progress. The branch railroad to Brownsville as shown on the map will no doubt be built within a year. A company is being organized at Biownsville for this pur pose and Albany men are interred in the enterprise. The Albany h Astoria railrond is no longer a matter of conjec ture. The company his $2,000,000 capital, and have expended $15,000 in the survey of the route and the purchase of a plant, with which 1000 men will be at work early in the spring.
