A Forger Escape Prison Through a
Keen Lawyer.

Several well-known lawyers of
this city were discussim: a ease in
which they were engaged recently,
some features of which were ex
tremely interest'njr to the legal
profession. After a while ttie
argument became wearisome and

case reminds me of one in which I
was engaged years ao. It was in
this State, somewhere up ner the
Canada line, that a young man had
heen arrested tor counterfeiting.
The case looked pretty black for
him when I was sent for t defend
him.
