On the subject of drainage there is an imperitire call for juat and prompt work by the legislature as tfem'-tled at Salem. A law upon the subject is needed for no ap preciable amount of drainage can tie made, even by individuals or by neighborhoods, until such a law in in operation, and the farmers of the state are fast getting ready for tile laying, many of them having already commenced preparations. A bill has been introduced we un derstand in the house, but its pro visions are complicated and it . creates new and unnecessary . officers. The law upon the subject should be simply to establish the right of an' individual who desires to drain to force an outle; by the way of the natural or most practi cal water route way, for the draii. age from his land. This require no extra officials and should be reached by an act containing as lew words as possible with no ambiquity or double meaning phrases, and it should be passed at this session for there is urgent need for it. canism. . Hence the London Stand ard is very wide of the mark when it attributes any of the animus of the Administration to Phelps. It is pretty certain that if Cleveland had not insisted upon it, Bayard would never have dreamed of ask ing for Sackville's recall, while Phelps had really no influence in the matter one way or the other. The enterprise of substituting grain elevators, in which the grain is handled in bulk and with far less cost than in the present method, for the present grain warehouses has been started, and the first elevator will be built at ! Albiua. It is also promised that I as soon as the Nicaraugua or Panama canal shall give a water route across the isthmus all grain will be shipped in bulk oi. the ocean voyage, and thus tne farmers of this coast will be relieved from the onerous and useless grain hag tax. Farmers put your shoulder to the wheel and help bring about that desired condition of affairs. Warning. The modes of death's approach are various, and statistics bhow conclusive ly that more persons die from diseases of the throat and lungs than auy other. It is probable that everyone, without exception, receives vast rumbers of Tiibeicle Germs into the system ami where these germs fall upon suitable soil the j start into life and develop, at first slowly and is shown by a slight tickling sensation in the throat and if allowed to continue their ravages they extend to the lung's pro. duciug consumption and to the head, causing catarrh. Now nil this is dangerous and if allowed to proceed will in time cause death. M the onset you must act with promptness; allow iug a cold to go without attention is dangerous and may lose you your life. As soon as you feel that some thing is wrong with your throat, lungs or nostrils, obtain a bottle of Boschee's German Syrup. It will give jou im mediate relief. Worth Knowing. Mr. W, H. Morgan, merchant. Lake City Fla., was taken with a severe Cold: attended with a distressing Cough and running into Consumption in its first stages. Ho tried many so called popular cough remedies and steadily grew worse. Was reduced in flesh, and bad difficulty in breathing and was unable w sleep. Finaly tried Dr. King's New Discovery for Consumption and found immediate rel.ef and after using a half dozen bottles found himself well and has had no return of the disease. No Tnnmmloomn.rnf .,la r.f ' other remedy can show so grand ., , , 1 a record of cures as Dr. King's New Ltah reports that in the territory i Discovery for Consumption Guaran tiee are 941 boys and 3341 girls of j Jd to do just what is claimed for it. - iriai uoiue nee at t osnay x .Mason flarentairo. and 34.082 The Albanv Bakery ! -Uuder the new management of- w non-Mormon Parentage, and 34,082 boys and 23,289 girls of Mormon j parentage. Twetdale, having sold his store and hardware business to Messrs. Smith & AVashburne, de sires ail having unsettled accounts to come forward without delay and settle. For the new firm he solicits a continuance of the liberal patronage of the public. I know I can saee you money, try me, and you will be convinced. V. F. Read. The joining of our neighbors on the North with the Union of the United States is a subject that receives much attention at present, and the pros and cons of its con sumatioti receives thorough dis cussion. The Irish World, in speaking of the popularity of the scheme in Canada, says that the Canadian loyalists have but little reason for their exultation over the defeat a few days ago of White, the M tyoralty candidate, at Windsor. Ontario, who ran as an avowed annexationist. It is true that he was beaten. But the majority against him was a very narrow one .inly thirty-eight. And, more over, his successful opponent. Twomey, was publicly declared by the latter's friends to lie "just as good an annexationist as White, if not better." Seine of the leading Canadian papers admit that, jmi, -ing by the result of this electioi., two-thirds of the Yiiizens of Wind sor are in favor of annexation. It is very probtbie that at the next Parliamentary election in Canada 'he question of seeking admission! i ito the Union will become one f i great importance, and doubtlei-s those who favor annexation will! ieek to secure the return of repre : -ntat'ves det r nined to work for! the success of the movement. It istoocOito forecast the result;' but, b-a ing in n:ind what has iiaiiiened at Windsor, it seems not unlikely that the friends of anuexa-. tion will then become very powei ful, it" not predominant, in the, Canadian Parliament, and that i they will strenuously endeavor to; raise their countrymen from thej condition of subjects of the Eng- j lish monarchy to that of citizens of this republic. dikd.
