Mr. Frank Davton has at his residence, No. L'ill West Bark street, a row of tomato vines, thir teen in numlier. which through a j prodigious vitality, and aided by ttie support ot the adioin'no- lence, I have attained to a heiirbt ot ne? ,-ly eigh feet. They have also borne ! very heavily, about three barrels of tomatoes having been picked from them. It is only by close examination that the casual ob server can b? made to believe they are tomato vines, their height causing them to resemble small shade trees. Oreiionian. If the Oregonian reporter will visit this city we will show him a tomato vine so large that Mr. Dayton's will fade into insignificance. The vine we have reference to is the one spoken of by the Herald f ev eral days since. It was planted May loth by W'm. McLaugl Un and" has now attained the pro digious height of nearly thirteen feet and is still growing. The main vine is over three inches in circumlerence, and the branches cover an area of twenty feet. On the vine can now be seen ripe and green fruit and blooms. Mr. Mc Laughlin is certainly entitled to the broom until a larger vine is heard from. A Mammoth I'uuipkiu.
