The CaLpooia mining uisu'et. which ior tl:e last year has re ceived but Httle attentiun, is now enjoying a genuine boom, in con sequence of some recent "strikes." A jarty consisting of some of Brownsville's enterprising citizens numbering tome experts, and - P11 en. a m.'ner oi Lb years experience started lor tl-.e above named dis trict on the 7th of Miy last. A glance at the country revealed a mineral belt of perhaps two miles in width and in leu-it h co-extensive with the Cascade range. Beginning at a point about one mile below the soouree of the Cal apooia, is The Consolidated Calapooia." This consolidation comprises five distinct claimes. The Jumbo mine, a ledge 25 feet in width, is located one mile furth er down the river. This claim was but recently located, and al ready several persons, eager to swell their purses, have posted claims on this mammoth lead.still further west, and m the immedi ate vicinity of Treasure mountain, are located the Emma,Blanchard's Fovorite, The Gold Dust, Zamoni, Brownsville, and other mines. These mines are located in a re gion favorably situated. Their I'lo.viimi v 10 me laiming oeu, me short distance to Brownsville and other towns, and better than all else, an abundance of timber, an eqtensive water-power and other mining facilities, warrant us in beleivmg that this section will prove a bonanza.
