J There is a scheme oa foot to tuilua steam schooner for outside, or deep sea fishing. It has been clearly demonstrated that just off the mouth of the Yaquina bay there is a bank which extends along the whole coast, where the best varieties of food fish can be ob tained in unlimited quanitites. 34ecently the finest halibut, weigh ing, we are assured, in the neigh borhood of 100 pounds, has been taken, while sea bass, rock cod and other varities o. fish are abund ant. With a properly equipped vessel, tons of fish could be se cured and shipped to the Ore gon Pacific cars to valley points yery morning.reaching consumers a few hours after being taken from their watery homes. Properly con ducted and equpped a steam schooner- would enable those en ;ared in deep sea fishing to gather in large returns in coin, as the best varities of fish can be taken in any quantity and, as indicated above, can be delivered absolutely fresh 'in all the valley-towns from Port land to Ashland at least one d:y before thev can be obtained from the lower Colombia. The demand 'for tl-ie.-e ' fish is growing right along, and the industry will prove 2i!jre and more profitable from year to vear.
