A very pleasant party was given at the residence of J. L. Cowan last evening in honor of the 10th birth day of Willie Cowan. An elegant supper was served and the party was an enjoyable social suc cess. Accident in a Gravel Pit. A gang of Chinamen who were working in a gravel pit yesterday a mile and a half east of this city, met with a serious mishap. The bank of the pit caved in, falling upon aid more or less injuring a iozen or more Mongolians. One of them received a broken leg and otner injuries om which it is doubtful if he recovers. The famous Chrisman will, case, on appeal from Lane county, was decided in tne supreme court, the decision of the lower court being sustained, the will therefore stands.
