Shortly after 8 o'clock all the mem bers of the family who were stay "iBg at the alaeej.-cuurj .-Jignatarr ies, generals and ministers of state remained in the Chamber in which the emperor was dying. The emperor was in a half sitting posi tion on a camp bedstead. All the members of the royal family took their places at the bedside. The room was crowded. Prince Wil liam stool nearest the emperor, half bending over his couch. He earnestly watched the face of the dying monarch until he expired. The emperor died holding the em press' hand. He was delirious for a brief period at 5 o'clock, during which time exclaimed : "I am a man of peace, but if Russia forces me to fight 1 shall faithfully side with my ally, Austria." The emperor's remains lie cover ed with a white cloth on the bed stead which he died, in the im perial chamber. The body is sur rounded with candles, and divine services will be held in the mort uary camber to-night. The em peror will be buried in the mausol eum at Charlottenberg. . PKIXCK AND PRINCESS START. Kiisxiu Close Her Theaters, Sr. Petersburg, March 9. The Imperial theaters have been closed on account of the death of Em peror William. The newspapeis express great respect tor the late emperor. Potter, vfee president and gen eral manager of the Union Pacific 'ailroad company died at the Wickers hotel at 11 :1b this morn ing. Australian fchip Wrecked. London, March 9. The Lanoina from Launccrton, Australia, for London, with a cargo of wool, has been wrecked near Weymouth The captain and eleven of the crew were drowned. Flags at .Half-Mast. San Francisco Chronicle. Thomas Nast, tne caricaturist. has been sued in the Justices' Court of this city by A. H. Rick etts, who acts as attorney for John Mo-juire, a Montana theatrical inf UHger. Maguire savs that Nast contracted with him to lecture in the Northwest from November to January last, and that the contracf was kept. Still their sewnds are. mak ing all preparations, notwithstand ing the fact that every movement is watched by-the police. THE FIGHT POSTPONED. Amiers (France), March 9. Both Sullivan and Mitchell are here, but Gen. Darnes and his English detectives are watching thei" move ments c!osely. Plenty of wrang ling has marked the proceedings so far, and the announcement that the fight had been postponed was no surprise. There seems to be a general feeling that a "quibble" will come up and there will be no fight after all. Sullivan's friends say Mitchell is in a wretched con dition and would stand no show. ANOTHER REPORT. London, ' March 9. The Sullivan-Mitchell fight has been post poned and will probably take place Monday. It is stated that. Sulli van was on the ground and ready to go- ahead with the fight, but Mitchell was not on time. This same information says that Mitch ells non-appearance is due to the fact that he is not in a condition to fight. LATER. LoNDON.March 9. San Francisco, March 8. In the trial this morning of Pilcher, Ham berg and Nenstadt on a charge of conspiracy for defrauding F. M. Parker, the Oregon farmer, out of $7000 on a decoy deed. Joseph S. Dunn testified that he was present at a conversation between Hamberg and one McElhinuy in reference ti the title.' Witness said that jji conversation with McElhinny and himself Hamberg said, "Why don't you stand in on this and throw the granger overboard." Witness knew that the abstract in posession of Hamberg wa3 a decoy and was to be used in catching grangers. The steamer City of Peking will be released from quarantine to morrow. The quarantine officers this morning permitted the British bark Valparaiso to be towed from the Quarantine grounds, and shtf was docked. The Valparaiso came lrom Iquiqu", a cholera infected port, and while no contagion was on board, it was deemed best to detain her awhile.
