ELECTION EXPENSE. Pursuant to call the Republican convention met at this city on Thursday of laHt week and nomi nal ed as follows: For joint representative the names of R. D. Hume and J. 8. Cokp, jr., were placed before the convention with the result that Mr. Coks received 87 and Mr Hume 67. S. B. Hermann was nominated representative by acclamation. For county commissioner for two years, W. F. Bowron, E. A. Andea- son and J. J. Clikenbeard were placed in the field and it took two ballots to seleot Mr. Anderson; Loyd Spiers and Fred McLean were named for commissioner for four years, Mr. Spiers being elected by a ballot of 76 to 69. Stephen Gallier was nominated for sheriff by acclamation as was also James Watson for county clerk. For assessor B. C. Lehmanowsky and E. S. Dean, both of Myrtle Point, were named, Mr. Dean be ing successful by a vote of 92 to 48. W. H. Bunch was nominated for school superintendent by acclama tion, and J. B. Dully for treasurer. For surveyor, three candidates were named, S. B. Cathcart received 44, E. Wold 11, and C. S. McCul loch 87. On motion of Mr. Cath cart the nomination of Mr. McCul. loab was made unanimous by ac clamation. Dr. Mingus was nominated for coroner by acclamation. W. C. Chase was chosen chair, man of the county central committee. L. Harlocker, W. T. Dement, 8. B. Hermann, W. H. Bunch, W. C. Chase, L. D. Smith, Dr. Mingus, J. W. Bennett and E. L- C. Farrin were chosen as dolegates to the State and Congressional conventions E. G. D. Holden was named for Jnstice of the Peace in Coquille dis. trict and John E Perrott Constable. After naming the candidates for Justice of the Peace and Constable in the different districts the conven tion adjourned Pursuant to call the Demociatio county convention was held in this City today aud trausacted the u s i i h I routine business for suoli meetings aud Dominated the ticket indicated below: For first place on the ticket, that of joint representative A. J. Sher wood received the nomination by acclamation. For representative Rev. R- C. Lee came before the meeting with out opposition and was also nomi nated by acclamation. For county clerk the names of J. S. Lawrence and R. H. Mast were placed in nomination the former receiving 55 votes and the latter 47. For Sheriff, Z. T. Siglin and W. W. Gage were named, Mr. Siglin being snccessfnl, the ballot stand ing 73 to 31. For county commissioner— two year term four names, M. Coleman John Porter, A. D. Boone and John Porter, were placed before the delegation. On first ballot no nomination was made and tbe name o f A. D. Boone was with drawn. Second ballot resulted: Coleman 23, Porter 11 and Bear 69. For commissioner, four-year term, tbe uames of Ed Fahy, I. T. Weekly and R. Pomeroy. A second ballot was necessary to obtain a majority of all votes cast. Pom eroy withdrawing Fahy received 47, Weekly 36. For county school superinten dent the names of F. A. Golden and A. H. Mulkey were proposed, bnt Mr. Golden’s was withdrawn and Mulkey’s nomination made unanimous by acclamation. T. J. Thrift was nominated by acclamation for aBseseor. H. G. Ploeger aud David Fulton were named for treasurer. Fultou received 53 votes and Ploeger 42. For coroner, Dr, K. A. Leep. Has world-wide fame for marvel ous cures.
