Preceding the lecture Mrs. Bentty and Mrs. Tuttle sang the fumilinr hymn, “ Nearer, My God, to Thee,” the former nlso presiding nt tho organ. The doctor read an original poem, nnd then proceeded with his lecture, which was very able anil interesting. At the close of the lecture Mrs. Beatty and Mrs. Tuttle rendered n very beautiful and appropriate song, in sympathy with the doctrine enunciated in the lecture. The doctor also eloquently recited a poem, “ Peter McGuire.” He then exhibited u large number of “ spirit photographs,” most of which he vouched for as genuine, with which he was personally familiar ns to persons and circumstances. Dr. Clark will lecture again at the Umversalist church next Thurs day evpuing. An admission fee of 10 cents will be charged. R. E. Buck left for Riverside, Cal., yesterday. H e will stay through the summer at least, and may locate permanently. Prof. J. W. Vogel, eyo specialist, is now in tho city and wilt remain a few days. Don’t fail to have his service. Ha has an office at Tuttle’s. The W. R. C. will hold their reg ular meeting tomorrow, and the ladies o f the Bnndon post and those of Myrtle Point will be present as guests nnd also at a social at night. At this point the judges retired, while a song was rendered by the school, n solo hy Mrs. Inmnn and a recitation by Miss Ethel Boon. The judges were Mrs. Byrou, Mr. Boon and Mr. Batter, who deemed Miss R ind the most profi cient elocutionist and nwarded to her the medal. Books were awarded to Nos. 1 and 4. The selections were most excel lent and all were rendered with credit to tha contestants. There was a fairly good audience in at tendance, but a storm was prevail ing at the time and hindered the attendance of many people who are deeply interested in theso con tests.
