Sar, Francisco, June 3.—The final transfer of 179,600 tons of wheat, belonging to the Fair estate, was consummated this afternoon. Four lending shipping firms,George W, McNear, Eppinger & Co., Bal four, Guthrie & Co., and GirviD, Baldwin & Eyre, were the purchas ers at $17 a ton, the certified checks given in payment amounting to $3,053,200. McNear’sclaim against the estate for storage was $110,000. The court allowed $89,000 as com- missious to the brokers who nego tiated the sale. Besides the estate finds itself loser ubout $1,500,000. TIMBER LAND CLAIMANTS WON. Roseburg, Or., June 3.— The land office here today received no tice that the case of the United States vs. Warner and Julius E. Miner, timber land contests, had been decided by Commissionn- Lamoreaux in favor of the defend ants. This was made a test case out of 50 or more entries, compris ing tho Julius E. Soldiers of the late war, pensioned under one luw, may apply for higher rates under other laws, without losing any rights. Thousands of soldiers drawing from $2 to $10 per month under the old law are entitled to higher rates under now law, not only on account of disabilities for which now pen sioned, but also for others, whether duo to service or not.
