It is to be boped that Bandon will draw all that and more, while Myrtle Point is becoming the educational center of tbe country. Tbe people of Myrtle Point were mildly excited last Friday by tbe ap pearance bere of a crew of tbiriy-tive surveyors, with tbeir instruments anil other equipage, cooking wagons, tents aud other paraphernalia fol lowed tbe backs carrying tbe meu, making quite a procession. Tbe railroad rod coal rniues. oper ated jointly under tbe direction of Manager Chandler for tbe Spreckels people, were said to be profitable, and tbe owners were not anxious to relin quish. It was recognized, however, that tbe building of a coast line and interior connections by tbe Southern Pacific wonld change conditions ma terially and that this company could handle the properties to much better advantage by having both rail and water transportation facilities for de livering the coal to interior and coast markets. Construction of tbe Coos Bay line of the Southern Pacific will be of vast benefit to tbe people aud business in terests of Cooe and Curry counties, and it is believed will lead to rapid development of that isolated portion of Oregon. These counties are rich in timber, coal, dairying and agricul tural resources, have a rich soil aod a splendid climate, together with tbe beginning of one of tbe best harbors on tbe Pacific coast. BANDON WOOLEN The people of Oregon, and indeed moat of tbe Pacific coast, are for- tunate in having such a variety of nature's displays from which to choose for tbe purpose of an outing and a vacation—a change from the routine monotony of tbe nsnal work aday life. Not far distant is tbe ocean always interesting and invigorating to many, people, always tbe same yet ever changing, murmurous or thunderous with manifold mysteries. On tbe coast of Oregon and Washington are several stretches of beach well adapted to an outing which contemplates surf bathing as one of its features—Sea side, Yaquina. Tillamook. Long Beacb. Marshfield and Bandon each have their advantages from a railroad viewpoin, and with a through line forking out here with terminals at both places, there will be no qnes tion but that tbe raiiroad building tbe line will find ample business to keep it busy and at good returns.
