Smoke Signals ' . 3 JUNE 1,2010 Casino furniture being given away starting June 9 Tribal Elders, then members, have first dibs on beds, tables, etc By Dean Rhodes Smuit Signal tdilar If you've always like the way guest rooms at Spirit Mountain Lodge are decorated, soon you'll have a chance to bring some of that decor into your own home. Starting Wednesday, June 9, Tribal Elders will have first pick from lodge renovation furnish ings. According to Tribal Procurement Manager Larry Leith, the Tribe will be receiving furnishings in blocks every week for eight weeks as 149 lodge rooms are refurbished and receive new furniture. Between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. f 'j f I Wednesday, June 9, through Fri day, June 1 1, Tribal Elders will be able to select one each of the items desired at no charge. Tribal identification cards will be required, Leith said, and only one proxy for another Tribal member will be allowed. During June 16-18 and June 23-25, the free furnishings will be come available to Tribal members and then from June 30 through July 2, Tribal employees will be allowed to pick out items. Tribal employees, likewise, will have to show their ID. After the Tribal Competition Powwow in August, any remaining inventory may be offered for sale to the public. The furnishings will be stored at the H.R. Jones property at 28925 Salmon River Highway. A tent on the property will serve as a show room for selection of items. Leith said that although furni ture began arriving the week of May 24, distribution will not begin until June 9 to allow adequate inventory to accu mulate. In addition, Leith said, Tribal Elders and Tribal members can pick one item each of a particular piece of furniture, such as one bed, one table, etc. Other items, such as chairs and framed artwork, will have higher limits. Leith said the intent of the distribution is for Tribal members' benefit of use and should not be resold. Loading assistance will be provided and delivery service is not available. There will be no pre-sales, Leith added.
