TRIBAL PREVAILING WAGE ORDINANCE OPEN FOR COMMENT The Tribal Council, in consultation with the Grand Ronde Tribal Housing Authority and the Tribal Attorney's Office, has adopted the Tribal Prevailing Wage Ordinance. The Ordinance was adopted, on an emergency basis pending final adoption in accordance with the procedures set out in the Tribal Government Organization and Pro cedures Ordinance, at the June 28, 2006, Tribal Council Meeting. The purpose of the Ordinance is to provide a mechanism to establish Tribal prevailing wages which supersede all federal wage determina tions on projects funded pursuant to the Native American Housing Assistance and Self-Determination Act of 1996 (NAHASDA) and other federal laws containing requirements for the establishment and payment of a determined prevailing wage such as wage determina tions set under the Davis-Bacon Act. The establishment of Tribal prevailing wages promotes the general welfare and economic devel opment of the Tribe by decreasing the cost of development projects funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) pursuant to NAHASDA. Among other things, the Ordinance (1) contains procedures for establishing Tribal prevailing wages, (2) requires a provision for payment of not less than Tribal prevailing wages in agreements with the Tribe or any of its departments or entities funded pursu ant to NAHASDA or other federal laws containing requirements for establishment and payment of a determined prevailing wage for construction, installation, alteration, repair or maintenance of buildings or works, and (3) contains provisions for enforcement of the requirements under the Ordinance. Tribal Housing Offers Trainings & Financial Skills Grand Ronde Tribal Housing Authority is pleased to be able to offer Home buyer Trainings and Financial Skills classes to Tribal members. Financial Skills Trainings consist of four 2-hour class sessions and will be held on the following schedule: Fridays: July 21, 28 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Tuesdays: September 12, 19, 26, Oct. 3 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays: October 31, Nov. 7, 14, 21 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Homebuyer Training consists of three 3-hour class sessions and will be held on the following schedule: Tuesdays: July 18, 25, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesdays: September 12, 19, 26, from 9 a.m. to noon.Please contact Debo rah Kroeker at 503-879-4522 to register for the classes, or if you have any questions.
