Attention Tribal Members The Ad-Hoc Enrollment Requirements Committee was ap pointed in August of 2005 by Resolution 071-05. Since then, the committee has been meeting twice per month. The purpose of this committee is to research current and past enrollment requirements, seek input from Tribal members and develop recommendations to Tribal Council for possible changes to the Tribe's enrollment requirements. The committee plans to have the recommendation complete by September, 2006. Committee mcynbers are as follows: Chairman Debby Larsen, Vice-chairman Khani Schultz, and Secretary Marilyn Portwood, and members, Barbara Feehan, Diana Norton, Nancy Renfrow and Duane Wrjeeler. ' ' The meetings are usually held on the second and fourth Sundays of each monhat i'p.ni. at the Grand Ronde Education Build ing. The committee wilalso be holding community meetings in several towns throughout Oregon and Washington sometime this Spring please watch for 'dates and places to be announced in Smoke Signals. N.. The committee encourages Tribal member & descendant partici pation, therefore, dedicates the last 30 minutes of each meeting to hear from those affected by the 1999 enrollment amendment. Dear people of the Grand Ronde Community, I was asked to write to the Smoke Signals and the Grand Ronde Tribe on behalf of all the Native brothers here at the Federal Correctional Institution in Sheridan. We would like to invite any drum group, dancers and all interested people to come and celebrate our annual pow-wow. We plan to enjoy a day of dance and song from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 28, 2006. We will also provide a feast of Buffalo Indian Tacos and other refreshments. All people and groups that can make it must have valid I.D. and clear a state and federal record check. We need to get interested folks cleared at least 30 days prior to the June 28 pow-wow. Please give some thought to joining us at our pow-wow. Come cel ebrate with your Northwest brothers and Tribal members from across theU.S.A.
