Tribal Members Compete In Portland Pageant Tribal members Summer Rose Mercier of Dayton, Brittny Roxanne Linton and Shawna Diane Scott of Grand Ronde, were recently selected to participate in Nationals' 2005 Miss Teen and Pre-Teen Portland pag eant competition that will take place on Oc tober 16, 2005. Summer, Brittny and Shawna submitted an application and took part in an interview session that was con ducted by Patty Neidert, this year's Portland Pageant Coordinator. They will be competing for a share of over $20,000 in scholarships, prizes and specialty gifts that will be distributed to contestants. They will be competing in divisions between the ages of 10 and 19 in modeling routines that include casual wear and formal wear. Most important, they will display their personality and interviewing skills while interviewing with this year's Portland judging panel. Personal ity is the number one aspect that each contes tant is judged on during all phases of competition. If Summer, Brittny and Shawna were to win the title of Miss Teen or Miss Pre-Teen Portland, they would represent Portland and the surrounding communities at the Cities Of America National Competition that will take place in Orlando, Florida. Over $60,000 in prizes and awards will be presented at the Na tional Competition while each winner enjoys this expenses paid trip of five nights and six days in Orlando, Florida. There is no cost to them for participating in the pageant competition. Community busi nesses, organizations and private individuals will assist Summer, Brittny and Shawna in participating in this year's competition by becoming official sponsors. Through sponsor ship, each contestant receives all the necessary training, rehearsals and financial support which will allow them to become a very confi dent and well-prepared contestant in this year's Portland Pageant.
