Tribal Members Compete In Portland Pageant
Tribal members Summer Rose Mercier
of Dayton, Brittny Roxanne Linton and
Shawna Diane Scott of Grand Ronde, were
recently selected to participate in Nationals'
2005 Miss Teen and Pre-Teen Portland pag
eant competition that will take place on Oc
tober 16, 2005. Summer, Brittny and
Shawna submitted an application and took
part in an interview session that was con
ducted by Patty Neidert, this year's Portland
Pageant Coordinator.
They will be competing for a share of over
$20,000 in scholarships, prizes and specialty
gifts that will be distributed to contestants.
They will be competing in divisions between
the ages of 10 and 19 in modeling routines that
include casual wear and formal wear. Most
important, they will display their personality
and interviewing skills while interviewing with
this year's Portland judging panel. Personal
ity is the number one aspect that each contes
tant is judged on during all phases of
competition.
If Summer, Brittny and Shawna were to
win the title of Miss Teen or Miss Pre-Teen
Portland, they would represent Portland and
the surrounding communities at the Cities Of
America National Competition that will take
place in Orlando, Florida. Over $60,000 in
prizes and awards will be presented at the Na
tional Competition while each winner enjoys
this expenses paid trip of five nights and six
days in Orlando, Florida.
There is no cost to them for participating in
the pageant competition. Community busi
nesses, organizations and private individuals
will assist Summer, Brittny and Shawna in
participating in this year's competition by
becoming official sponsors. Through sponsor
ship, each contestant receives all the necessary
training, rehearsals and financial support
which will allow them to become a very confi
dent and well-prepared contestant in this
year's Portland Pageant.
Any business, organization or private indi
vidual who may be interested in becoming a
sponsor to Summer, Brittny or Shawna may
contact their pageant coordinator, Patty
Neidert at 1-800-569-2487. Brittny Linton
