8 MAY 15, 2003 SMOKE SIGNALS Ice Skate Time Tribal youth were treated to a evening of ice skating and a pizza party at the Sherwood Ice Arena recently. Around 50 kids from Grand Ronde and the sur rounding communites joined in the fun. The evening was sponsored by the Grand Ronde Tribal Youth Social Ser vices Program. It was stuffed and mounted May 7 with a blessing ceremony. She thaked the creator for it in an eagel prayer. She takes it around to schools and tells chil dren about the eagle and what it is used for in the Indian culture. It was also featured in the Priest River paper.
