Set For Dedication The long-awaited and much anticipated West Valley Veterans' Memorial is now in place on the campus of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde. Much of the credit for the memorial finally being in place has to do with the efforts of Tribal Elder and Veterans' leader Marce Norwest (left) and Tribal member and memorial designer Steve Bobb shown here in front of the memorial right after cranes set everything in place. A dedication for the Memorial was set for Saturday, May 31 . By Peta Tinda On the stage on the north end of the Portland Art Museum's grand ballroom, members of Oregon Coast Children's Theatre, one of the grant recipients, brought a Native Ameri can myth to life. It was all part of the Spirit Moun tain Community Fund's $20 million celebration. "I really enjoyed the youth enter tainers,' said Tribal Council mem ber Valorie Sheker-Robertson. "If that's what our community fund dollars are going to fund, then I support it wholeheartedly." Representatives of many of the 254 recipient organizations of the Fund's 347 grants since 1997 at tended, plus Tribal Elders, Tribal officials, staffers and decision mak ers from all over the state to honor this important milestone.
