Smoke Signals 13 MAY 1, 2003 ' Vivian Petite-Tomlinson August 25, 1924 April 1, 2003 Vivian Petite-Tomlinson of Salem passed away on April 1. She was 78. She was born to Earl and Lula Williamson in Bently, N.D. She moved to Washington from North Dakota in July 1938. In 1939 she moved to Grand Ronde where she met Raymond Petite. They married in October 1942 in Stevenson, Washington. They moved to Salem in 1954 and divorced in 1957. She married Virgil "Okie" Tomlinson on Sep tember 25, 1965. They lived in Burney, Califor nia for four years them moved to Falls City in 1967. She owned and operated the Falls City Cafe through the mid 1970s. She lived in Dallas until 1986 when she moved back to Salem. Okie died in 1990. She was proud to have had two sets of fifth generations of girls in her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Petite; daugh ter, Beverley Petite; brothers, Irvan Williamson and Edward Williamson. Survivors include her sons, Raymond Petite Jr. of La Pine, Ernie Petite of Levensworth, Kansas and James "Jip" Petite of Salem; daugh ters, Violet Folden of Salem and Gladys Hobbs of Grants Pass; sisters, Dorlas Wilson of Smith River, California and Kathryn Standstipher of Redmond; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
