Police Training in Grand Ronde "Hands Up" Special Response Team (S.R.T.) members from Polk County, Dallas, Independence and Monmouth Police Departments took part in some con frontational simulation training recently in Grand Ronde. An unoccupied house behind the Fort Hill Texaco served as the training grounds and was donated to the Sheriff's office by the landowner prior to the house's demolition. S.R.T. team members practiced entering the house and securing officers playing the role of criminals hiding in the residence. "This type of realistic training is important because it allows us to try new tactics and hone our skills under stressful situations," said Grand Ronde Polk County Sheriff's Sergeant Jeff Van Laanen.
