4 Smoke Signals &333j Dear Tribal members, I would like to thank each and everyone of you who voted for me in the recent Tribal Council elec tion and although I didn't win, I felt it was a pretty good showing. I wish all the new Tribal Council members the best of luck in their new positions. I plan to get more involved with the Tribe and its government in the upcoming year as well as trying again for Tribal Council. Our individual Tribal ballot does count and assures that our Tribal needs are represented and provides guidance to how our Tribe's future is shaped. Ila Dowd was especially helpful along with her friend Bonnie Tom in providing leads on people who were associated with and related to members who did not have the correct updated address in Enrollment's Teams system. Robert Schmid was able to provide us several leads. Together united, we were successful. People like you make our hearts sing. Thank you so very much. IN LOVING MEMORY Annabell Mae Poole ft n :;k :f 4:1 ' Tribal member Annabell Mae Poole was born in Tillamook on August 30, 1934 to Teadore (Ted) John Houck and Leona Mae (McGee) Severin. She had a baby brother who died at birth. His name was Ted, Jr. Ann was primarily raised in the Grand Ronde area, but went to Cloverleaf School through fifth or sixth grade. Ann then went to Agency School for a while. Some of her closest friends were her cousin Val Grout, Lois Butler and Beryle Contreras. In 1953, Ann married Robert (Bob) Lee Simi. Bob was a logger. In August 1930, they had a little girl named Julie Ann. Julie was born on Ann's 21st birthday. In July 1956, they had a baby boy named Bobby Joe. Bobby died of sudden infant death syndrome at 8 months old. They had a second son, Joe Alan, in September of 1957. Jeanna Lee was born in November of 1958. Jill Lenn was born in May of 1960. Janie Lou in August of 1961, and Janet Louise in March on 1963. In 1967, Ann married Bruce Wayne Poole. Ann had her last child, Jolene Alice in May of 1974. Ann and Bruce managed apartments in California and Arizona. At one time, they owned and operated B & A Mobile Home Ser vice in Salem. After retiring, Bruce and Ann enjoyed trav eling in their motorhome. They also enjoyed fishing. Ann enjoyed going on Elder trips and eating at the Elder's Mealsite. Ann and Bruce enjoyed going to Spirit Mountain Casino when Ann's health allowed. Ann had ten granddaughters, seven grand sons and four great-grandsons with a fifth on the way. In Ann's lifetime, she watched her daugh ter Jolene crowned Miss Grand Ronde in 1990. In August 2000, she watched her grand daughter Kandee Little crowned Sr. Miss Grand Ronde. Ann was very proud of her family. On September 13, 2000, God took Annabell Mae Poole to heaven. Ann is now a grandma angel who spends her days rocking the little baby angels. Thank Yoti Ann's family would like to say thank you to everyone for your thoughts, prayers, and car ing words. Also, a special thank you for the great meal after Mom's funeral to Val Grout, Penny Deloe, Shelly Kent, Bonnie Tom, Darlene Aaron, Debbie Lake, Jim and Wilma Butler, Sharon Grout and anyone we may have missed. You have all been wonderful. Thank you.
