Con struction of the casino and related improvements is at a stage of almost daily visible progress. Fa cilities Service Manager, Ron Sabatini reports the following developments: Highway Underpass The time-consuming task of building the highway un derpass walls is now complete. The contractors are setting up the top slabs that make up the roof of the tunnel and highway bridge. Completion of the underpass and related highway improvements is scheduled for later this summer. Building Progress With the steel framing nearly complete and the exterior walls and surfaces taking shape, the casino building has become an attention-getter for passing motorists. Action Erectors is now finishing up the installation of the structural steel frames that make up the casino's en trance, buffet, and gaming areas. The casino's bent steel roof decking is about 20 complete. Most of the interior walls in the back of the house area of the casino have been framed and sheet rock is being in stalled. The back of the house is the working heart of the casino, containing such things as the kitchen, maintenance shops, locker rooms, and employee areas. This recent photo of the casino shows how rapidly construction is progressing. Waste Water Treatment An effective, state of the art waste water treatment is vital to Spirit Mountain for health and environmental rea sons. Construction of the casino's waste water treatment plant is well underway. An underground treatment plant provides secondary and supplemental treatment of waste water in staged reactors using aeration, biological and chemical processes. The process removes solids from the reactors to drying tanks for disposal. Treatment of the waste water continues before it is released to disposal fields. Travel one mile to the community center. Approximately 30 miles west of Salem; 25 miles west of McMinnville; 20 miles east of Lincoln City. Public Works solicits bids for local jobs The Public Works Division is accepting sealed bids for the following tribal projects: Cutting, bailing, and removal of the grass hay adjacent to the modulars and behind the pow-wow grounds. The removal of two outbuildings on the north Buswell property across from the casino site. Remodeling jobs in the modular office buildings. In addition, sealed bids will be accepted for the following jobs at the new training center behind Spirit Mountain Development offices: Painting the exterior of the building. Asphalt emulation of the foundation. Venting of the foundation. Landscaping. Anyone wishing to bid on any or all of these jobs may contact the Public Works Division for further information and specifications. The bids must be received by July 11, at 4:30 p.m. at the Public Works conference room.
