3mlj changes at casino site
The architects drawing of Spirit Mountain
Casino that has appeared in the June 1 issue of
Smoke Signals is rapidly becoming a reality. Con
struction of the casino and related improvements
is at a stage of almost daily visible progress. Fa
cilities Service Manager, Ron Sabatini reports the
following developments:
Highway Underpass
The time-consuming task of building the highway un
derpass walls is now complete. The contractors are setting
up the top slabs that make up the roof of the tunnel and
highway bridge. Completion of the underpass and related
highway improvements is scheduled for later this summer.
Building Progress
With the steel framing nearly complete and the exterior
walls and surfaces taking shape, the casino building has
become an attention-getter for passing motorists.
Action Erectors is now finishing up the installation of
the structural steel frames that make up the casino's en
trance, buffet, and gaming areas. The casino's bent steel
roof decking is about 20 complete.
Most of the interior walls in the back of the house area
of the casino have been framed and sheet rock is being in
stalled. The back of the house is the working heart of the
casino, containing such things as the kitchen, maintenance
shops, locker rooms, and employee areas.
This recent photo of the casino shows how rapidly construction is progressing.
Waste Water Treatment
An effective, state of the art waste water treatment is
vital to Spirit Mountain for health and environmental rea
sons. Construction of the casino's waste water treatment
plant is well underway. An underground treatment plant
provides secondary and supplemental treatment of waste
water in staged reactors using aeration, biological and
chemical processes. The process removes solids from the
reactors to drying tanks for disposal. Treatment of the waste
water continues before it is released to disposal fields.
