The officials at Spirit Mountain report the following developments in hiring and construction progress: I tea- 1 Spirit Mountain has started to flesh out its management team with several recent hires. Kit Devine moves from her posi tion as Human Resources Officer for the Grand Ronde Tribe to take on that job for Spirit Mountain. Devine will be responsible for h iring the hundreds of employees needed for the Casino. Chuck Galford has taken on the duties of Marketing Director. Galford worked in marketing for NIKE for seven years and has headed up his own marketing consulting firm since 1990. Jeff Realander brings 13 years of experience at the Mystic Lake Casino in Minnesota to the position of Direc tor of Gaming for Spirit Mountain. Realander has served as a consultant to the Spirit Mountain Casino for the past 18 months and has considerable experience in opening a number of Indian Casinos throughout the United States. Ron Sabatini moves over from the Portland real estate management firm of Norris Stevens to assume the du ties of Facility Service Manager. Sabatini's responsibilities include su pervising the Casino construction on behalf of Spirit Mountain. Construction of the Casino, road ways and parking areas is moving ahead rapidly. Facility Services Man ager Ron Sabatini reports that con struction crews are installing support ing beams and roof trusses for the Casino's atrium and buffet areas. They are also installing heating and air conditioning ducts in the main Casino area. Exterior walls are go ing up on the south and west sides. bllMaMMMMil Spirit Mountain is financing the major highway improvements cur rently underway at what will be the Casino's entrance. Motorists on Highway 18 are using temporary lanes while an underpass under the permanent highway is being con structed. The underpass will enable westbound traffic to enter and leave the Spirit Mountain area without making a left hand turn. A turning lane will be added for eastbound traf fic. Sabatini estimates that, weather permitting, the highway project will be completed in mid-July. These improvements will not only avoid traffic problems related to the Casino but also make a high-accident stretch of Highway 18 safer for all motorists. No public funds are being used for these improvements. i mmm The award-winning Sandstrom De sign firm has created a striking new logo for Spirit Mountain Casino. The logo features a coyote jumping over Spirit Mountain and an unusual type face. "It's a great design that works very well for marketing while reminding the public of our Indian heritage," says Marketing Director Galford. The Spirit Mountain logo will be used in ads, brochures, signage, and merchan dise. When it opens in October, the Spirit Mountain Casino will employ 850 people in a broad range of positions.
