Smoke Signals February 1994 Page 2 Litter Oh Patrol S The Natural Resources Department has noticed a considerable increase in illegal dumping ori the reservation and little along the roads theTribe maintains, since Hampton Tree farms began closing their gates in 1992. Hampton has closed their gates, in part, because of the intolerable increase in illegal dumping and vandalism they have experienced. Hampton's lower rock pit on Agency Creek is one of the most littered areas. People have been using this area for a firing range-leaving targets, cans, bottles, etc. Road signs are being used for targets. Waste such as household garbage, tires, large appliances, automobile parts, and animals (dead and alive) have been dumped on the reservation. Several items with names and addresses have been found. Deputy Distlor and Deputy Claussen will be investigating them further. All illegal dumping and littering will be reported to the Yamhill County Sheriffs office. Violators will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. This news is disturbing and saddening. We need everyone's help in keeping the reservation clean and safe.
