Litter Oh Patrol

The Natural Resources Department has noticed a
considerable increase in illegal dumping ori the reservation
and little along the roads theTribe maintains, since Hampton
Tree farms began closing their gates in 1992. Hampton has
closed their gates, in part, because of the intolerable increase
in illegal dumping and vandalism they have experienced.
Hampton's lower rock pit on Agency Creek is one of the most
littered areas. People have been using this area for a firing
range-leaving targets, cans, bottles, etc. Road signs are
being used for targets.
Waste such as household garbage, tires, large
appliances, automobile parts, and animals (dead and alive)
have been dumped on the reservation. Several items with
names and addresses have been found. Deputy Distlor and
Deputy Claussen will be investigating them further. All
illegal dumping and littering will be reported to the Yamhill
County Sheriffs office. Violators will be prosecuted to the
fullest extent of the law.
This news is disturbing and saddening. We need
everyone's help in keeping the reservation clean and safe.

Christmas Crafts Bazaar which was held December 15 at the Tribal Community Center.
Over 30 individuals, tribal and community members, set up booths selling their hand made
arts and crafts items. The bazaar was well attended, and participants were really excited at
the success of the sale. Since the Christmas Bazaar was such a huge success, it will be
repeated next Christmas as well. . . w .
Secondly, Mitch Conley, Business Development Division Manager, was asked to
sit on the National Advisory Council for the new "Indian Business" magazine. The
magazine's publisher, Mr. Floyd Roberts, was referred to the Tribe by several national
organizations involved in small business development. This is a great honor for the Tribe
it says that others in Indian Country, and in the business development arena recognize our
Business Development Division as a national leader in individual tribal member business
development.

Hunting And Fishing Licenses
The Fish & Wildlife Department is now issuing permanent hunting and fishing
licenses. This will be in the form of a permanent picture identification card. To obtain your
license, you must come in person to the Forestry Office between the hours of 8:00-noon, and
l:-5 :00 P.M. If you are coming from out of town please call ahead. For more information,

Fish & Wildlife Committee Openings
The Fish & Wildlife Committee has three openings available. They are seeking
potential members who are able to travel and enjoy working with youth and the community.
Fish & WildlfeForestry experience is preferred, but not absolutely necessary. Staff position

Hey Kids! Molar Roller Party & Poster Contest
In celebration ofNational Children's Dental Health Month, the Grand Ronde Tribal Dental
Clinic will be sponsoring the following events: Library display at Sheridan Library, Children's Story
Time at Willamina Library, Dental Screenings at Grand Ronde Grade School, Oral Health Poster
Contest, and a "Molar Roller" Skating Party.
POSTER CONTEST
The World Health Organization, in recognition of the essential contribution of oral health
to overall general health, has declared 1994 The Year Of Oral Health". In honor of this event, and
the monthof February beingNauonalCluldren'sDentalHed
Program is sponsoring a poster contest
Poster Contest Rules:
All posters must promote oral health.
Criteria for selection of winning posters are: originality, appropriateness of subject (oral health), and
cultural influence.
Posters must be at least 812" X 11" in size and may not exceed 1 1"X 17".
A winner will be chosen in three grade categories: K-3, 4-6, and 7-12.
An entry form must be attached to each poster.
Local winning posters will be submitted to an area and national contest in which winning posters
from all areas and in each of the age groups will be displayed in Washington D.C., April 7, 1994.
Certificates will be given to all winners at all levels: local, area, and national.
All posters may be turned into the Grand Ronde Grade School Principal's office or at the Grand Ronde
Dental Clinic, 9615 Grand Ronde Rd., Grand Ronde, Oregon 97347. Deadline is Wednesday,
February 23, 1994.
Local winners will be announced Friday, February 25, at the "Molar Roller" skating party.
