The center for Adolescent Development Research and Education, has a program available for Alternative Education and Counseling Services if you reside in the following school districts: McMinnville, Newberg, Willamina, Dayton or Sherwood. Some services are available in the areas of; 1) Credit through Independent Study. 2) GED preparation. 3) Basic Skills Tutoring. 4) Outdoor Challenge. 5) Counseling and Education for High Risk Students. 6) Personal, Vocational and Academic Counseling. CADRE works with discouraged learners. Young people who are 13 through 20 years old and who have dropped out of school before completing their diploma, or who are in school, but not attending or succeeding, may be enrolled. Students in CADRE' s Regional Learning Coordinator Program complete academic study through independent work and may either pursue a regular High School Dipol or GED. Diploma bound students should be within 6 credits from graduation or be willing to return to school after receiving 6 credits from study with CADRE. The Regional Learning Coordinator Program (RIC) is the name of CADRE' s alternative education and counseling service. The RIC Program is provided at no cost to the student or their families. A Regional Learning Coordinator is an Oregon Certified teacher who provides educational assistance and other services to CADRE students. IF YOU HAVE DROPPED OUT OF SCHOOL, then you must sign a plan for completing your GED or Diploma. If you are under 18 years old, you must also obtain the signatue if your parent or legal guardian on the plan. CADRE will submit the signed plan to the school district for their comments and approval when the school district gives their approval your education services begin. IF YOU ARE STILL ENROLLED IN SCHOOL, you must first talk with your school counselor or vice-principal about your desire to enroll in CADRE' s RIC program. When the school refers you to CADRE, then the following will occur: A) The student negotiates and signs an educational plan. B) The student's parents or legal guardian signs the plan. C) An officer of the school district approves the plan. D) Services begin.
