W e ig h -in s in W a rm Springs are this T hursday and Friday, Jan. 22-23; and in M adras on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 23-24. M o v in ’ M o u n ta in s is a n a n n u a l c o u n ty -w id e event to lose w eight and e s ta b lis h a h e a lth ie r lifestyle. T h e challenge is p re sented as a collaboration b e tw e e n th e C o n f e d e r a te d T r ib e s o f W a rm Springs, the IH S D iabetes P revention P rogram , the L et’s Talk Diversity Coa l itio n , the- J e f f e r s o n C o u n ty H e a lth D e p a r t m ent, the M adras A quatic C enter, O S U E xtension, La C om unidad Latina en A ccion, and o th e r c o m m unity organizations. Rules, regulations and divisions will be similar to la st year, w h e n v a rio u s w eight divisions w ere ini tiated. T h a t c r e a te d m a n y m onthly educational p ro gram s o n a variety o f to p ics led by various experts. Entry fee $25 m o re m o n e y w in n e rs th a n past years, as 36 people fin ished “in the m oney” in 2014, according to event organizer C arolyn Harvey. Weigh-ins this week W eigh-ins fo r th e 2015 event will be o n T hursday and Friday, Jan. 22-23 in W arm S p rin g s a t th e P h y s ic a l T herapy R oom at the C om m unity Center. W eigh-ins are also on Fri day and Saturday, Jan. 23 and 24, at the Je fferso n C ounty H ealth D ep artm en t, 715 S.W F o u rth St. in Madras. Instead o f weekly exercise program s being m ade avail able as in past years, organiz ers th is y e ar a re p la n n in g T h e en try fee is $25 p e r person, p e r division (two division maxim um). D iv isio n s in clu d e in d i vidual m ale and female, tw o-person m ixed gender team s, a n d fo u r-p erso n m ale an d fem ale team s. All entry fees go to prize m oney payouts. T h e re w ill also b e a Fam ily Fitness contest as p a rt o f M oving M o u n tains: kids aged 10 and up and their family m em bers can participate. Sign-ups will be on Sat u rd a y , Ja n . 3 1 , a t th e Jefferson C ounty H ealth D epartm ent. It is free for families to participate.
