Thè Aggies then play Seatde University in Se attle on Saturday, Feb, 9, before going back to Las Cruses for home games. Abby is the daughter o f James Scott and Amy Scott. She was a four-year basketball starter at Ma dras H igh School, and signed with the Aggies in 2011. She is in her freshman year; Abby is 6-1, playing guard. She plans to major in criminal justice. Jam es Scott recently traveled to San Jose, Calif., to watch the Aggies play the San Jose State Spartans. “I ’ve seen her play on ESPN and on the com puter, but I wanted to see the game' live,” Scott said. She’s still only a freshman.” W inter gillnet fishery open The winter gillnet fishery ¡began at the start of Febru ary, and will close no later than 6 p.m. on March 21. This is for all o f zone 6. R estrictions: All stan d ard river m outh and dam sanc tuaries remain in effect. The Spring Creek hatchery sanc tuary is not in effect in the ¡winter season. Gear: T here is no mesh size testriction. Allowable sales: Sturgeon betw een 43 inches and 54 Jnches fork length in T he Dalles and John Day pools. Sturgeon between 38 inches and 54 inches fork length in the Bonneville pool. Sturgeon o f legal size may be sold or kept for subsis tence. C hinook, steelhead, ¡walleye, shad, carp, catfish, bass and yellow perch may also be sold. Tribal fishers are reminded to use their first.salmon in an appropriate traditional man ner, Note: The tribes may take action to close any pool ear lier if the commercial stur geon harv est guideline for that pool is m et before March 21. Zone 6 platform and hook and line fisheries: Fish harvested in the zone 6 platform and hook and line fisheries during times when commercial gillnet fishing in that pool are allowed to be sold. The allowed species for sale are the same as the gillnet fishery. The same size limits for sturgeon as the gillnet fishery also apply to the zone 6 platform and hook and line fishery. A trip to Oregon State Uni versity, including a Beavers- Ducks basketball game, was the rew ard for great atten dance at Jefferso n C ounty Middle School. State to haze sea lions on Willamette (AP) — A b o a t crew ¡armed with seal bombs and ¡shotguns loaded with fire- ’crackers will be back on the ¡Willamette River this year ¡ trying to keep sea lions from ¡chowing down on salmon b o ttled up at W illam ette Falls. The hazing started in 2010 but was suspended la.st year for lack o f money. The Leg islature authorized $113,000 to pay for a boat and crew for three months. The idea is to allow more threatened spring chinook and w inter steelhead to g et past the sea lions to spawn. The state says as many as 21 sea lions were at the falls in 2011, where biologists' es timate they can each eat four to seven fish a day. Similar efforts have been going on for years at Bonneville Dam on the Columbia.
