The date has been changed from March, Classes will begin on Monday April 2, to Wednesday, May 23, 2012. Classes will be held in the Basement o f the Culture & Heritage Language Department in the Education Building at 1110 Wasco St. from: 3:30 - 5:00 pm The new schedule will be: Monday, Numu Language Tuesday, Ichishkiin Language Wednesday, Kiksht Language The Culture & Heritage De partm ent Staff and Mt. Hood Ski Bowl S taff have had a tremendous tim e getting together w ith each step of getting closer to having the “ Interpretive Center” which will house history of Tribes & viewed by the world throughout the year. This is the building, Kirk Hanna owner o f Mt. Hood Ski Bowl has offered to house information of the Confeder ated Tribes. Language will be 3:30 - 4:30 History, Culture, Practices, will be 4 :3 0 - 5 :0 0 Topics covered in April: Purpose, Historical Trauma, Inherited Duties, Body Value, Longhouse Etiquette, Tradi tional Discipline, Cleansing, Baby Board, Traditional Curfew, Regalia, History o f Beadwork, History o f Law Enforcement & Feast. This area will be set up fo r display cases. Classes are open to everyone wanting to learn a language o f the Confederated Tribes. Hood Area and/or as a family going to pick Huckleberies in the area, or if you have any pictures you can share fo r this pur pose, we can scan those and display them. “ Nilx Maicqi!” Students coloring, the coloring sheets are tabled with Ichishkiin Language the teachers quiz the student on what there cloring and the students respond in Language. For our young children ages 3 & 4 to hear every thing in Ichishkiin and beginning to respond back to the teachers in Ichishkiin brings such hap piness to the teachers. Our Autni Ichishkiin Sapsikwat Teachers are taking the students out for walks, our students don’t just go out and play, the Teachers talk and teach them during this time. He sings the Social Dance Songs and pow-wow songs for the students.
