Eagle Watch will mark its Six teenth Anniversary on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 26-27. Eagle Watch, co-sponsored by the Confederated Tribes of W arm Springs, happens at Round Butte Overlook Par.k. The event features live birds of prey, Native American dance presentation, tours, raptor edu- Veterans gathering in April oring of the veterans, flute play ing, clown dance, fun and songs. The V eterans’ Family and Heating Gathering will be held at HeHe Longhouse from April 28 to May 1. T h e Warm Springs community last week contributed clothing, food and water, and household items to the victims of the White Swan fire on the Yakama Res ervation. Last Friday, a team of vol unteers loaded the supplies at the Family Resource Center. The contributions included di verse items ranging from bottled water and canned goods, to dia pers and winter clothing. Tw enty hom es w ere d e stroyed in the fire, which was fueled by high winds. Over 100 people were displaced from their homes in the catastrophe. The fire apparently started in one house in the early Saturday afternoon, Feb. 12, then spread in the town of White Swan, bol stered by 40 mph winds. The blaze raged for most of the day. No residents were hurt but two firefighters were treated for minor injuries. Some residents voluntarily evacuated and took shelter at the long house and high school. Warm Springs Community Calendar Wednesday, Feb. 23 Warm Springs Tribal Council is in session today. On the morning agenda: Warm Springs Forest Prod ucts Industry report. And, in the afternoon is IRMP. There’s water aerobics this morning 10:15 to 11:15 at Kah-Nee-Ta pool. And, the Diabetes Walk is today at noon at the community center. Culture & Heritage and OSU Extension are putting on activity for youth. It’s learning about star lore and making pictures of tribal con stellations from 4-5 p.m. at the Education Building, The Museum at Warm Springs will be holding Open Arts & Crafts times from 4- 7 p.m. for people 18 and older at the Museum Edu cation Room.
