The project also included new water, sewer and electrical systems; new roads, and a new longhouse. T h e U.S. A rm y C o rp s o f Engineers financed and directed the redevelopm ent, w ith sup p o rt from the C on fed erated Tribes o f Warm Springs and the o th e r C olum bia R iver treaty tribes. O n Thursday, August 20, the residents o f Celilo Village, the Wy-Am Board, the Bureau o f Indian Affairs, the U.S. Arm y Corps o f Engineers, will h ost a celebration o f the redevelop m ent o f Celilo Village. T he OSU College o f For estry students are coming as part o f a field study course on “Communities and N atu ral Resources” to learn and participate in community ser vice p ro je c ts at W arm Springs and Wallowa County. C~ H o st families will be re sponsible for providing a bed for each student, three break fasts, and one dinner for two o r three students (or m ore if desired) for three nights. A stipend will be provided for host families to help de fray costs. H o st families are encouraged to interact with the students and share fam ily life. There will be a presentation o f the operation and m ainte nance transfer documents from the Corps o f Engineers to the BIA, and a presentation o f gifts.
