The staff of 12 health work ers focus on nutrition and fit ness, diabetes prevention, edu cation, m aternal and child health, elder care, and other ar eas of community wellness. Queahpama has worked with the joint venture between IHS and the tribes. She worked for a Head Start now taking registration Warm Springs Head Start is now taking applications for the Head Start 2009-2010 school year. Head Start is offering your three to four-year-olds a pre school experience. Head Start provides children with activities to grow mentally, socially, emotionally and physi cally, as well as giving them kin dergarten readiness. Give your child the gift to learn, give your child a Head Start. Be prepared to present the following for registration: Verification o f income, birth certificate or tribal letter, physi cal and immunizations papers, custody or placement papers-we will need all o f the paperwork in before the child is selected for the school year. Aquatic center hosting July 4 event The Madras Aquatic Center will host a July 4 celebration on Saturday, starting 5:30 until the completion of the fireworks. The event will feature four hours o f swimming, games and recreation, a barbecue, live mu sic and fun for people o f all ages. The evening will be topped o ff with the fireworks display from an excellent vantage point. You m ust buy adm ission bracelets in advance o f the event. Bracelets can be pur chased at the aquatic center, at 1195 SE Kemper Way in Ma dras. Admission includes swim ming, music, barbecue dinner and fireworks.
