There are many events planned around the region to commemorate the anniver sary. The Columbia River Inter- T ribal Fish C om m ission maintains an on-line site that is dedicated to Celilo Falls. You can find it at the CRITFC w eb site, www.critfc.org. As stated by the fish com mission, Celilo Falls was the site from time immemorial that “drove tribal economies and created one of the West ern Hemisphere’s great mar ket places...” “During high water, nearly one m illion cubic feet of water per second — five times the flow of Niagara Falls — would pass over the basalt rocks, creating a roar that could be heard many miles aw ay... On the morning of March 10, 1957, the gates of The Dalles Dam closed and choked back the Columbia River. Six hours later Celilo Falls was gone.” The M useum at W arm Springs is planning an exhibit, “Remembering Celilo Falls,” that will be featured at the museum from June 21-Sept. 9. The exhibit will be a look back at Celilo Falls through memories, images and the voices of the elders. Mr. Paul was born Oc tober 3, 1945 at Warm Springs to parents Felix Paul and Eunice Charley. Mr. Paul was a lifelong resident of Warm Springs. He enjoyed bowling, hunt ing and fishing. He is survived by his sons Rudy Paul Jr. o f Warm Springs, and Smart Paul of Fossil; and sister Paulette Hawley of Warm Springs. A brother and sis ter preceded him in death.
