Medals won Youth participate in Indigenous Games Good luck Joe Hipp from Spilyay Tymoo Joe Hipp to meet Bruce Sheldon August 19 The number two ranked heavyweight boxer in the world, Joe Hipp, had established his training camp at Indian Head Gaming Center in Warm Springs, as he prepares for an August 19th challenge of the World Boxing Association's Heavyweight Championship. Joe Hipp has already achieved a significant first the Native American to be ranked a "top-ten" contender for the Heavyweight Championship of the World. He expects to achieve even more important firsts to be tne urst Native American to be the Heavyweight Champion of the World. Hipp's manager, Roland Jankelson, said that Eugene businessman Ritch Danner is responsible for Hipp locating his training camp in Oregon. "We had opportunities to set up training in a number of locations including Australia, Ritch conveniently arranged for everything we required so we decided on Oregon". That fact also allows Hipp to return to the roots of his professional career. Joe had his first bout in Eugene, Oregon his first ten round main event there and trained in Eugene for two years ; Jankelson said. Hipp (30-3) will meet Bruce Seldon (32-3) of Atlantic City in the 12 round WBA Heavyweight Championship as part of a pay-per-view presentation which includes the highly publicized come back of Mike Tyson. The event takes place August 19th at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas Nevada. Ifftfli If! Three of the fourteen athletes who traveled to Minnesota July 28, won medals in their competition. Track and field team members competed in the Juvenile, and Bantam divisions , at the Indigenous Games. There were ' over 8,000 athletes at the Bi Annual Indigenous Games in Minnesota. Each team was allowed only one competitor for each event. The team from Warm Springs had to decide who would be in each event. ' Tim Williams won a gold medal in the 3,000 meters, and a bronze in the 400 meters. Siagigi Hisatake won a gold medal in the discus, and ran in t the 200 and 100 meter. Williams and Hisatake competed in the Juvenile division. Odessa Jones won a silver in the 1 00 meter, she also ran the 800 and 200 meter. Jones lost by a nose for the fourth place spot in the 200 meter. Jones competed in the Bantam division. Coach and chaperone Andy Leonard also competed. .... .
