Rolow, at 2210 Pheasant avenue. Guests will call . between the hours of 2 and 4 o'clock. Candidates for the title of "De Molay Doll" for 1957 have been named by bethels 35, 43. 48 and 59 of Job's Daughters, by Chadwick and Cherry assemblies of Order of Rainbow for Girls, and by 9 groups ot Y-Tecn clubs. Mrs. Allan L. Stevens is chair- man for the event and assisting her in arrangements for the tea are Mrs. David W. Flaks, Mrs, Thomas Armstrong, Mrs. Charles W. Ronk, Mrs. hoy M. Mogster ana Mrs, Hicnara i. Holm. Annual Dinner At Mt. Angel MOUNT ANGEL (Spccial)-Thc planning committee for the annual dinner of St. Mary's Catholic parish met at the home of Mrs. Delmcr Lulay, general chairman, to discuss preliminary nrepara tions for this year's annual event, which is scheduled for Sunday, March 31, in the St. Mary's school dining hall, from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Presiding at the meeting were Mrs. Lulay, who served as co- chairman at the dinner last year, and Mrs. Georgo Vachter, this year s assisting Co-chairman. Pros ent and past dinner chairmen serve on the planning committee, The dinner is sponsored by the St. Ann j Altar society. Society members will handle dining room and kitchen work in advance of the dinner.' The Mount Angel Garden club will decorate the tables and the Junior Catholic Daughters of America will provide nursery care for the youngsters. A new chairman this year is Mrs. Francis Hammclman who will have charge of soliciting cooks to fry the chicken and sau sage. Mrs. Raymond Rothenfluch will bave charge of donations of home-baked pies and cakes. Mrs. Arthur Hassler Is lining up dish washing shifts. Mrs. Walter Kruse will take care of the correspon dence, Mrs. Victor Hoffers, pos ters, and Mrs. J. l. Wachtcr, pub licity. 'Mrs. 0. J. (Sielmonls studio picture) To Assist Project The philanthropy project of Al pha Phi alumnae will be launched at the coffee planned Thursday morning. in Meier 4 Frank's-Salem Oregon room. The project is sell ing small medical record books, proceeds from the sale going to the philanthropic funds. Mrs. Rich ard Scandling is chairman of the project locally and will have books lo soil at the Thursday coffee. All Salem Alpha Phis are invited. The coffee is arranged especially to honor Mrs. Waller Loth, Mon mouth, and Mrs, Rudic Wilhelm, Jr., Portland, wives of stale sena tors; and Mrs. Wallace Brennan, a former national Alpha Phi board member moving to Salem the last year, Mrs. Sydney Kromcr and Mrs. bvan Boise are in charge of the eolfee and will greet the guests.. DAYTON (Special) The Day Ion Reading club met with Mrs. James Walts last week for des sert. Mrs. Delia U'Ren introduced Mrs. Milo Wold of McMinnville, who gave an account of a trip made through Europe during the summer of 1956. Mr. and Mrs. Wold arc members of the Linficld college faculty and with their son and daughter spent three months touring through many of tiic Euro pean countries. The speaker showed colored slides of the var ious points of interest on the trip. A short business session followed the program. The next meeting will he with Mrs. Harold Frink oo March 1. WKBFOOT (Special) Mr. and Mrs. Steve Benedict entertained with a pinochle parly of six tables last week. The Valentino theme was used in decorations and score cards. Mrs. John Johnson and Frank Armentrout won the pinoch le prizes. High scores were made by Mrs. George Dotid and John Hcffley and consolation prizes went to Pete Ediger and Mrs. Tommy Lyman. Collins is the new president of the Woodburn unit of the Wom en's Christian Temperance Union, elected Friday afternoon to suc ceed Mrs. A. D. Sprousc who has moved lo Lebanon. The meet ing was held at the Collins home. Other officers previously elected are Mrs. Oscar Allen, vice presi- dent; Mrs. Ivy Donner, secretary and Mrs. Fred Anderson, treasurer. Angel Dates SILVERTON (Special) - About 30 farmers from the Silverton I trade area were guests of the Sil verton Rotary club at their an nual "Farmer's Night" dinner meeting at Toney's cafe. Heading the directorate for the affair was Harry Riches and serv ing with him was Elmer Lorencc and Willard Benson. j John Hale of Salem, a magician, provided the evening's entertain ment. Ted Rutherford, as program chairman, will present Captain Ben Ecklcy of the local National Guard unit as speaker for next week's noon luncheon. MOUNT ANGEL ABBEY-Spon- sored by (he Oregon Stale Council Knights of Columbus, the annual oratory end elocution contests will be held Sunday, March 10, in the hilltop gymnasium at Mount Angel Abbey. Final eliminations will begin at p.m. for the college seminary students. Two winners will be chos en in both speech fields and prizes totaling $100 will be awarded by the Knights of Columbus.
