Johanna Kortzaborn was elected president of the Marion county unit of the Oregon College of Education Alumni association at their organizational meeting recently. Dale Harp, district di rector of Marion County and vice president of the state alum group auisted in the formation of the new unit. Other officers chosen were John " Pizzuti, vice president; Charles Baker, secretary; and Harry Pease, publicity director. All officers teach in the Salem area. Next activity of the newly formed group will be a social evening and business meeting in the Mayflower hall on the eve ning of February 28. Mardi Gras Party Planned at Dallas DALLAS (SDecial) St. Philins Catholic church is sponsoring its annual Mardi Gras dance Satur day before Lent, March 2, from 9 to 12 p.m. The affair, at which costumes are optional, will be in the Dallas armory. A bandstand in the form of a merry-go-round is being planned by the decorating committee. Al Lindbeck's six piece band will occupy the stand. The Altar society will be in charge of the refreshment booth and the hat check stand. Tickets for the dance may be bought from parishoncrs for $1. Duringhe intermission of the dance costumes will be judged and prizes will be awarded for the best costumes. The committees include Mrs. Joe Schumacher, Jr., and Joe Wenger, co-chairmen; Darrell Wil liams, orchestra; Louis Nicol, ar mory rental; Keith Peterson, dance permit; Joe Schumacher, Jr., public address system; Mr. and Mrs. Peterson, Ed Caillier, Dale Goodrick and Tom Vestal, decorations; Ed McElroy, public ity; Mrs. George' Woorth, posters; Eugene Rowell, scrgeant-at-arms; Mr. and Mrs. Dean Reichardt, ticket sales; Mrs. Eugene Rowell, ticket taker; McElroy and Bob Rodger, awarding prizes; : Mrs. Lou Geottsch, dance tickets; Mrs. Agnes Ziegler, Mrs. Ethel Mar ling, refreshment booth; Mrs. George Etsel, Mrs. Jacob Ploub and Mrs. William Mack, hat check booth. Of S Chapter DAYTON (Special) At the regular meeting of Electa chapter No. 29, Order of Eastern Star, the present and past Star points were honored, Dy Mrs. Husselt Lenman, worthy matron, and Mr. Lehman, worthy patron. Guests were Mr. and .Mrs. Charlie Mctskcr of McMinnville. Mrs. Metsker, who is supreme deputy of the Order of Rainbow for Girls in Oregon, gave a most interesting and informative talk on the order. Past matrons met with Mrs. Charlie Carr on Tuesday, Feb. 19. BPW Pub WOODBURN (Special) The Woodburn Business and Profes sional 'Women's club will meet for dinner Thursday, February 21, un der the direction of the finance committee with Mrs. Frank Bent ley as chairman. The first two courses will be served at 6 p.m. at the home of Miss Hildegarde Dier khising. The group will then go to the Bentley home for the last courses and the program. Dr. Eleanor Gutman of Salem, feder ation president, will be the speak er. This is a benefit project and all members are urged td be present. March meetings will be held at the Fellowship house in Hubbard and election of officers will be on March 7 at the business meeting.
