Even extreme ly friendly, shall I say. There was another consideration, too. You wanted to prove to him that you were protected by the government." "I didn't know what I was doing. He was threatening me and you seemed decent " "Thanks very much. But you haven't answered me. You wanted to prove to Mirtilo that you were protected by the gov ernment. Incidentally, you wanted to deflect both of us from your father's track. You wanted to turn the govern ment's and the gestapo's hunt after your father into a hunt of each other."
