Sprague, Oregon's first lady, presided at luncheon In her North Fourteenth street resi dence this afternoon in compliment to Mrs. Walter Pearson, who Is In the capital during the legislative session. A group of Mrs. Pearson's close friends made up the guest list. The George Washington birthday theme and patriotic colors were used by Mrs. Sprague in the table appoint ments. Miss Martha Sprague assis ted her mother. Governor and Mrs. Sprague are arranging an Informal Sunday night supper at their home honoring a group of the legislative contin gent. Woman's Club In Session On Saturday Salem Woman's club will meet Saturday in the Salem Woman's clubhouse for a program being ar ranged by Mrs. LaMolne Clark and Mrs. O. C. Geer of the Americanism committee. Mrs. Glen Paxson will preside. Dr. W. 0. Jones has been listed as the speaker and Miss uen' evleve Scharf will be the soloist. Mrs. Arden Reed will head the tea committee, which Includes Mrs. Jessie Singleton, Mrs. C. C. Geer, Mrs. W. C. Winslow, Mrs. B. B. Her lick. The George Washington motif of red, white and blue will be carried out In the tea table appointments. War Mothers At Cook Home The American War Mothers met Wednesday at the home of Mrs. E. R. Cook. Formal Affairs Given On Willamette Campus Saturday Willamette University Campus Numerous formal affairs will hold the limelight on the campus this, week-end as members of the sororities entertain In honor of their new members and pledges and fraternities hold their annual open houses. Members of the Delta Tau Gamma soror ity are honoring their new members and pledges at a formal date dinner party at the State Street dining room Saturday night. The landing of Noah's Ark will be the theme for the table decorations with a minia ture ark centering the table and tiny animals wending their way from the ark. Animal vases will hold bunches of violets and bouquets of violets will mark the places for the honored guests. The menus will be ,tlny arks and favors will be small glass animals. Miss Ruth Jones is In general charge of the dinner and Miss Pearl Bendlksen is In charge of the menus. Following the dinner Thimble Club Is Entertained Mrs. Alta Scott and Mrs. Lucy St. Claire entertained the Thimble club of the Neighbors of Wood craft Wednesday, at the Scott home, with a no-host luncheon. Music Teachers Committee Named The Salem district of the Oregon Music Teachers' association met at the Argo hotel for luncheon Wed nesday. Vernon Wlecarson, director of in strumental music in the public schools, addressed the group. He explained the work of his depart ment and spoke of the Increasing Interest in music in the schools. Angel, will become the bride of Joe Buhl of Woodburn at St. Mary's church In Mt. Angel Monday, February 24. The Rev, Father Alculn Heibel will perform the ceremony and a wedding dinner will be served at the Mt. Angel hotel. After a short wedding trip the young couple will make their home in Woodburn. Salem Girls Win Honors Eugene Elizabeth Steed, ft Salem co-ed, today succeeded Betty Bu chanan, also of Salem, as president ot the Associated Women Students of the University of Oregon. In the same election, held yester day, Hope Hughes, Eugene, was elected president of the Women's Athletic association, and Lois Nord ling, Colton, won the presidency of the Young Women's Christian as sociation.
