To day tr,e work of scarifying will begin preparatory to the placing o; tho cement. The highway will remain epen to traffic for aome time yet as it Is the plan to pave one-haif of the grade at a time and the work wilt start on the bluff side of the highway und continue to a point near the tpo of the grade. One way traffic will be routed through and the construction company will place flagmen, at either ends as the work progresses to direct the motorists bo that there wilt be n difficulty on the grade. When the cement is com pletcd to the ton of the grade or to the point where it is planned to begin putting down concrete curbs and sidewalk toward Ore gon Citv the work will be taken back to the Canemah end of the grade and the other half of the concrete put down. When this part or too construction Is reach ed it will he necessary for motor ists southbound to leave the high way at Ihe end of the completed str'p of pavement and detour to Hj;:u street thence to the old South F.nd road which comes out at New I'Jra and uorth bound motorists mutt leuvo the highway at New Era and como into Oregon City over the old South End road and Ilih street.
