Salem .would not have been chosen as the premier location for the new plant if one-third of the people in Salem had been buying their household needs thru mail-order houses. WHY? Because it is necessary to patronize home merchants who in turn will build up the city. When the city grows to necessary size it induces such plants as the Western Paper Con verting Company, now being established. The seed from which any city grows is con trolled by those who purchase the necessities of every day life if that seed is sent to some other city, thru the lure of cheaper merchandise, it helps to build the city in which it lands.
