Clearer, itate prohibi tion officer, Multnomah county iherlff'e officer! aald the figures do not represent actlrltlea of the state prohibition commissioner's office alone, but are tot a la of all flnea collected through the county courts, of which at least three fourths was the result of work done by deputy sheriffs with whom Cleaver bad no connection. As an Illustration, Sheriff Hul- burt pointed out that during 1924 $1,890 was collected on liquor fines. All of this is included in Cleaver's report to the governor but only $435 of it was the re sult of raids staged by Cleaver's men. The other was collected in fines from offenders arrested by sheriff's deputies. Tonight the Salem baaketball fane will have a chance to see what is expected to be the foe test and hardest fought game of the season when the Bui cm high school clashes with the Corvullls algu school on the local floor. Corval lis is a stroon rival of the local team who will have to fight with all the power they have to get a win over them. The visitors will come here with with the strongest lineup they have had In years and they are expecting to journey back home with Salem's scalp tied to 'their waist, but Salem also expects the same thing of the Corvallls five, so the game ought to be a hum mer. It was reported that Hawl- tngs, etur forward of the Corvallla team, quit but the longing to got Into the fray against Salem will probably be too strong for Hi in and he will more than likely likely change his mind before the Start of the game.
