Harbison, were matters before Chemeketa chapter. Daughters of the American Revolution, at their meeting on Saturday. The chap ter was entertained at the home of Mrs. Henry B. Thlelsen on Court street, with Miss Nell Thiel sen and Mrs. Cecil Hawley as as sistant hostesses. At the meeting to be called by Mrs. Seymour Jones, state re pent In Portland a week from Saturday, the state board will de cide the exact time and place of the state conference. The chapter decided to send a large box of miscellaneous ai Idea of clothing and materials to Angell Island, the Ellis Island of the Pacific coast, for the use of the women and children In deten tion there. During the program hour Mrs. John V. Harbison read an in structive and entertaining paper on "Women of the Revolution." Mrs. Harbison used as her subject matter the achievements and ser vices rendered by women often overlooked by historians. Begin ning with Martha Washington, whom she showed to be the real Instigator of the Red Cross move' ment, Mrs. Harbison gave, in turn, a bit of the heroism nml nobility of such women as Molly Pitrhi, Lydia Darrah, Emily Geiger, Deborah Samson, Abigail Adams, Elizabeth Martin, Es titer Ileed, Mrs. David Wright. Re becca Motto, Mary Redmond, Mar tha Bratton, Elizabeth Zane, Nancy Van Alstlne, Mary Ann Gibhs, Mary Knight and Margaret Corbin. Dr. and Mrs. M. P. Mendelsohn have returned from an enjoyable trip to ban Francisco and Oak land where they spent the holt days. The annual Epiphany party of the members of St. Paul s church will be held tomorrow evening beginning with a dinner at 6:30. Reports of all church organiza tions will be given and the Epiphany cake will be cut by the wife of the senior warden, Mrs. F. G. Deckebach. In charge of the dinner are P. L. Williams and Mrs. C. C. Page the recipients of the ring and thimble in last years Epi phany cake. Mr . and Mrs. Ben Vlck enter tained as their guests on New Year's day Mr. and Mrs. S. S. Mr. Schramm's par ents, Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Schramm of Salem, were also included in the group. Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Thompson had as their house guests for several days of last week, W. S. walker and Charles Walker of Albany, brothers of Mrs. Thomp son. Among the out of town guests present at the family reunion held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. Snook during the holidays were Mr. and Mrs. L. N. Traver of Corvallis, and Paul Glenn Snook also of Corvallis. Mrs. Tra ver is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. Snook.
