Howard St., Stanfield. 4:17 a.m. - The Morrow County Sheriff’s Office sent a deputy to the Shell station at 300 Third St. S.E., Irrigon, on a report of a woman trying to take off her clothes in front of customers. A deputy did not find the suspect. 11 a.m. - A Hermiston man told police someone stole his and his daughter’s Social Security cards, and he thinks he knows who did it, 11:16 a.m. - A Pendleton man asked to speak to police about guns he purchased, which resulted in an investigation. 3:05 p.m. - A Boardman-area man asked to speak to law enforcement about his ex-girlfriend stealing his mail and changing his address without permission. 3:08 p.m. - Hermiston police received a report of the theft of a van from the parking lot of Suds Yer Duds, 1875 N. First St., Hermiston. The person said the crime happened between Monday night and Tuesday afternoon, the van had one unlocked door, a quarter tank of fuel and no keys inside. 4:27 p.m. - A caller told the Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office there is a dog without food or water on North Main Street, Hermiston, and a deputy should check on it. 4:43 p.m. - A man asked to speak to a Hermiston officer about home invasions that have been going on for seven years. 7:22 p.m. - Someone stole a dryer and other items from a house on the 100 block of Miller Street, Milton-Freewater. 9:31 p.m. - Hermiston police received information of a male breaking a window out of a building on Northeast Second Street. 11:47 p.m. - A Weston man on North Franklin Street reported the possible theft of his shotgun. ARRESTS, CITATIONS Tuesday •The Morrow County Sheriff’s Office arrested Josh Strong, 22, of Boardman, for harassment and menacing, misde- meanors, after a caller reported Strong “snapped” and said his mother and brother need to die because they stole his soul. •Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office arrested Debbie Lynn Jarrett, 32, and Leobardo Jacquez III, both of Boardman, for possession of methamphetamine. Jarrett also had warrants. •Oregon State Police arrested James Ray Bryant, 36, of Heart Butte, Montana, for driving under the influence of intoxicants. •Hermiston police arrested Demetri Andrew Brockie, 33, of 514 Hawthorne Loop, Pendleton, on warrants and for posses- sion of methamphetamine. Wednesday •An Oregon State Police trooper caught a thief in the night. State police reported trooper Mitchel Pace at about 1:30 a.m. tried to stop a beige Chevrolet Astro on Highway 395 around milepost 6 south of Pendleton for a traffic violation. The mid-sized van turned onto Southwest Cheryl Avenue near McKay Reservoir and the driver jumped from the vehicle. The trooper chased the driver for a few seconds, then contacted the passenger, Timothy Allen Okaly, 39, of 323 N.E. 41st St., Pendleton. According to state police, Pace looked in the van and found four tires on four chrome wheels, and Okaly admitted to stealing them minutes earlier. The trooper drove the suspect to where he said he took the tires, and a man there confirmed they were his and worth about $1,200. Pace arrested Okaly for first-degree theft and took him on one more ride — to the Umatilla County Jail, Pendleton. Milton-Freewater March 14, 1945-March 20, 2017 Linda Carol Brock, 72, of Milton-Freewater died Monday, March 20, 2017, at her home. She was born March 14, 1945. SCHOLARSHIPS Farm Bureau offers scholarships HELIX — The Umatilla-Morrow County Farm Bureau will award up to $3,000 in scholarships this spring to high school seniors in Umatilla and Morrow counties who will be attending any school of higher education, including trade school, university and community college. Priority consideration will be given to those with an agricultural background, FFA or an intended major in an agriculture-related field. Students will be selected by a scholarship committee of UMCFB board members. Successful applicants will be selected based on accomplishments and need. It is not necessary for a family member to be a member of UMCFB, nor is a high GPA a requirement. Emphasis will be placed on ability, personal goals, school and community participation and citizenship. Applications are available from high school counselors in Umatilla and Morrow county schools.
